"Learning to Pray

He was praying in a certain place and after he had finished, one of his disciples said to him, "Lord, teach us to pray as John taught his disciples." He said to them, "When you pray, say: Our Father, who art in Heaven..."

                                                                                   Luke 11:1-4

Learning to Pray is an important way children grow in their faith and relationship with Christ.  Children learn prayer through example and practice at home and at church.  By teaching about prayer when a child is young, it is hoped the child will gain a tool which will guide them throughout life.  In addition to talking about prayer, the children will learn to recite the Lord's Prayer.

Children in first grade along with their parents are invited to join us for the "Learning to Pray" workshop on Sunday, February 12 during the Sunday School hour.  There will then be a special blessing and prayer for all the students and their parents during the 10:30 service the same day.

First Communion Preparation

Holy Communion is a gift from God!  As with any gift that God bestows, it is given with  no strings attached, there is nothing that we can do that makes us less or more worthy to receive the gift.  When you or your child receives a gift, it is natural to want to know what it is all about, how it works and what to do with it.  That is what the First Communion Preparation classes are designed to teach your child.

The preparation for and receiving of their first communion is a special milestone in your child's faith journey.  It is also a chance for you, as parents, to come together with your child in a way that we don't do often enough to grow together in faith.  Because we commune children at various ages, families may use this class as a way to prepare for their child's first communion or if their child has already received Holy Communion they may use it to help their child learn more about its significance in their lives.  This can be a learning event for all ages.

Please join us on two Sundays, March 11 & March 18  from 9:15am-10:15am as we learn more about the precious gift of Holy Communion and its power to sustain and strengthen our faith.

Students will receive their first communion on Sunday, April 1st at the 10:30 service.  There will be a reception to follow.  Please invite your family and friends to share in this faith milestone.

Please click on the link below to fill out your registration form.  The form must be received by March 1st.
